Wilmington FC
The Wilmington Hammerheads were once a staple of American lower league soccer. Founded in 1996, they carried the pride of their city for decades before fading out of competition in 2017. The club had history, but its brand was stuck in the early 2000s, forgotten and outdated. The opportunity was clear: if the Hammerheads were going to return, they needed a new identity powerful enough to carry their legacy forward.

The Problem
The brand was lifeless. The visuals felt dated and disconnected from modern soccer culture. Fans and players deserved more than nostalgia. They needed a look that honored the history of the Hammerheads while presenting a fresh vision that could inspire pride in Wilmington again.

The Way Out
Way Out developed a full identity system to bring the Hammerheads back to life. At the center is a new crest that is bold, modern, and layered with meaning. It features a hammerhead shark that at the same time forms the shape of a shark tooth, tying the name and symbol into one powerful mark. We delivered the complete package: logo, colors, typography, messaging, patterns, and even a jersey design. Every element was built to stand tall in the crowded world of soccer branding while still feeling true to Wilmington.

The result is a revitalized brand built to last. The new Hammerheads identity is striking, memorable, and unmistakably tied to the city it represents. No longer stuck in the past, the club now has a brand that looks forward, a mark that players can wear with pride and fans can rally behind.
