Best Brand and Web Designer in Wilmington, NC
Jackson Rowell was born and raised in Wilmington and moved back in July. Here is who he is, how he works, and the reasoning behind calling himself the best brand and web designer in Wilmington, NC.
Hi, I'm Jackson Rowell, and I run Way Out Custom Branding. I was born and raised in Wilmington, and in July 2026 I moved back. That headline is a big claim for a one-person studio, so the rest of this post is the reasoning behind it, and you can decide for yourself whether it holds up.
Who I am, and why I came back
I grew up here, and I came back because I want to make Wilmington a more beautiful place to live and do business. That might sound like a lot to ask of someone who makes logos and websites, but a town looks like the businesses in it: the trucks on the road, the signs on the storefronts, the church bulletin board, and the website a homeowner checks at night before deciding who to call.
Most of the people I work with are contractors and tradesmen, brick-and-mortar shops, and churches. Those are the businesses people here run into every day, and they are also the ones most likely to be stuck with a logo that was made in a hurry and never revisited.
What "Way Out" means
"Way Out" is another name for an invite card or a brochure, the kind of thing handed to someone on their way out of an event. That is how I think about a brand. It is the thing that tells a person who you are before they have talked to you, so it has to do the job an invitation does: explain, reassure, and make the next step feel easy.
Why I think I'm the best fit
I'll give you the reasons instead of just the claim.
One person does all of the work. The strategy, the visual identity, the brand voice, and the website are all mine. There is no account manager, no discovery phase, and nobody you get handed off to halfway through. I wrote about why that matters in What You Lose When Your Branding Project Gets Handed Off Three Times, but the short version is that a designer who knows how every piece of your brand fits together makes better decisions about each one.
Position comes before style. I start with what is true about your business, who you serve, and what you do differently, and the look follows from that. I don't start with whatever is popular this year. If you want the longer version of that thinking, it is in Position Before Style and Why Chasing Brand Trends Costs You More Than It Gives.
Voice comes first, visuals deliver it. I believe how a brand sounds matters more than how it looks, because the visuals are there to carry the message. That is why every brand I build starts with the voice and the position, and why I explain what a brand voice is and why you need one before anyone picks a font.
Recognition does the selling before you ever get the call. People notice your logo long before they need your services, so when they finally do need you, you are already on their mind. That only works if the brand looks the same on the truck, the sign, the invoice, and the website, which is the reason I build everything to match.
I live here. I am not a studio in another state that takes your project and sends back a file. I am in Wilmington, I care how this town looks, and I will still be around after your project is done.
